Department of English Celebrates Reading Day
The Department of English, WIRAS, celebrated Reading Day 2026 by organizing two engaging literary activities: the "From Editorial to Insight" Competition and the Reading Tree initiative. The competition provided students with an opportunity to critically analyze a newspaper editorial and articulate their perspectives, fostering critical thinking and effective written communication. The Reading Tree activity was inaugurated by Dr. Aboo Ishaque P. K., Principal, who placed the first leaf on the Reading Tree and emphasized the significance of cultivating a lifelong reading habit. Students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff enthusiastically participated by sharing the titles of books that had inspired them, along with brief reflections on their importance. The celebrations successfully promoted a culture of reading, reflection, and literary appreciation, reinforcing the institution's commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity and lifelong learning among the WIRAS community.
