Joy: A Lesson in IPR
On 5th June 2026, the Department of English organized an innovative academic awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for third-semester B.Com (CA), B.Com (Cooperation), and B.A. English students. As part of the programme, the biographical drama film Joy was screened at 2:00 PM in the Seminar Hall. The event commenced with a brief opening address by Programme Coordinator Ms. Hridya Suresh K., who highlighted the significance of intellectual property rights and innovation in today's world. Moving beyond conventional classroom lectures, the film screening provided students with an engaging and practical understanding of IPR concepts. The film effectively portrayed the entrepreneurial journey of Joy Mangano and the patent-related challenges she faced while protecting her invention. The programme encouraged students to reflect on the importance of creativity, innovation, and legal protection of intellectual property. The screening was well received by the participants and successfully combined learning with entertainment, making the programme both informative and inspiring.
