ESPERANZA: A Celebration of Hope – Mental Health Week
The PG Department of Psychology, WIRAS, organised a five-day Mental Health Week celebration titled “ESPERANZA: A Celebration of Hope” from 12 to 16 October 2026, in connection with World Mental Health Day, observed annually on 10 October.
The inaugural programme marked the formal commencement of the five-day celebration. A significant highlight of the event was the official launch of three student clubs: the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club, the Critical Thinkers Forum, and the Big C Small C Creativity Club.
The programme also featured a special address by Ms. Jalarani K., Principal of Shanthideepam School for Differently Abled, on the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.” Her address emphasised the importance of recognising lived experiences, encouraging empathy, and fostering greater awareness and understanding of mental health.
The programme aimed to promote mental health awareness, encourage meaningful engagement, and create a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
