In a heartfelt act of compassion and social responsibility, Payyannur College NSS Unit 10 handed over a sum of ?36,669 to NSS Unit 48 of Wadhihuda Institute of Research & Advanced Studies (WIRAS) to support the medical treatment of Nandana Suresh, a native of Vilayancode undergoing treatment for a kidney transplant following severe renal failure.
The amount was formally handed over by Prof. Dr. V. M. Santhosh, Principal of Payyannur College, along with Programme Officer Mrs. Surekha and Volunteer Secretary Arjun Manikandan. Representing NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS were Volunteer Secretaries Hafiz Hashim, Ridha Ayisha, Mirza Ali, and Roosa, who received the contribution with gratitude on behalf of the unit and the beneficiary.
This noble gesture comes in addition to the ?48,324 previously raised by NSS Unit 48 through fundraising campaigns in the nearby towns of Payyannur, Taliparamba, and Pazhayangadi. With the latest contribution, the collective support for Nandana’s treatment now exceeds ?85,000.
The initiative showcases the exemplary spirit of the National Service Scheme (NSS), where student volunteers, educators, and institutions come together in times of need to make a real difference. NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS extends its deepest appreciation to Payyannur College, the Principal, and all NSS volunteers involved for their generous and timely support.
This collaboration between institutions underscores the enduring values of empathy, community engagement, and youth-driven service that NSS upholds.
