NSS and Journalism Department Observe Hiroshima Day

The NSS Unit, in association with the Department of Journalism, Wadhihuda Institute of Research and Advanced Studies (WIRAS), organized an impactful anti-war programme on Hiroshima Day, August 6th, 2025.

As part of the observance, the documentary Witness – Gaza’s War Through a Child’s Eye produced by Al Jazeera, was screened in the Seminar Hall, drawing attention to the human cost of conflict and violence. The screening offered students a poignant glimpse into the realities faced by children in war-torn Palestine.

The event commenced with the NSS Geetham. Dr. Akhil R, Vice Principal of WIRAS, inaugurated the programme, highlighting the importance of promoting peace and fostering empathy among youth.

Volunteer Secretary Fathima Shiba T M A delivered the welcome address, while Rajeesh V V, Programme Officer, presided over the function. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Fathima Faaza Muthalib.

The initiative successfully sensitized students to the devastating impact of war and underscored the need to uphold peace and humanitarian values.
