NSS and Literacy Mission Organize Orientation for Volunteers

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit 48 of Wadhihuda Institute of Research & Advanced Studies (WIRAS), in collaboration with the District Literacy Mission Kannur, organized an Orientation Programme for Volunteers under the New India Literacy Programme. The event was held on 5th August 2025 at 1.30 PM.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Akhil R, Vice Principal, WIRAS, who highlighted the crucial role of student volunteers in advancing literacy initiatives. Rajeesh V V, NSS Programme Officer, delivered the welcome address, setting the context for the session.

Shaju John, District Coordinator of the Literacy Mission, addressed the volunteers and provided a detailed explanation of the upcoming literacy survey, emphasizing its significance in empowering marginalized communities and promoting inclusive development.

The main orientation was led by V.R.V. Ezhom, Director of SASTHRA and Member of the District Literacy Mission Authority, who guided the volunteers on their responsibilities and inspired them to actively contribute to the cause.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ridha Aysha, Volunteer Secretary, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for making the session a success.
