NSS conducts World Breast Cancer Awareness Programme

The NSS Unit of WIRAS organized the World Breast Cancer Awareness Programme on 14th October 2025 as part of the Pink October 2025 campaign to promote awareness on early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

The event began with the NSS Geetham, followed by a welcome address from Sana Shamsudheen, NSS Volunteer. Mr. Rajeesh V. V., NSS Programme Officer, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the social responsibility of youth in promoting health awareness. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Vineethkumar V, Director of Research, representing Dr. Aboo Ishaque P. K., Principal of WIRAS.

The key session featured Dr. Harsha Gangadharan, Medical Officer, Malabar Cancer Care Society, and Dr. Nilanjana R. Nath as resource persons. They presented insightful talks on breast cancer awareness, underlining the importance of early diagnosis, regular medical checkups, and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Distinguished guests Lion C. Kumaran, Sidharthan Vannanath, and A. K. Sadanandhan attended the event. Feedback was shared by Ms. Haseena P. P. and Mr. Muhammed Ameen M. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Raniya Abdul Rasheed. The programme successfully encouraged students to spread awareness within society.
