NSS Unit 48 Raises Rs. 48,324 in One Day for Kidney Transplant Patient
In a remarkable show of solidarity and compassion, NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS successfully raised Rs. 48,324 in a single day as part of a fundraising campaign for Ms. Nandana Suresh, an 18-year-old patient in urgent need of a kidney transplantation.
The campaign was formally inaugurated earlier in the day by Dr. Aboo Ishaque, Principal of WIRAS. The inaugural stage was graced by Dr. Vineethkumar V, Research Director, and Mr. Pradeepan R.C., Head of the Department of Languages, who expressed their wholehearted support for the initiative. Mr Rajeesh Bala, Programme Officer, NSS unit 48 presided over the fucntion.
NSS volunteers, organized into teams, ventured into the nearby towns of Taliparamba, Payangadi, and Payyannur, collecting generous contributions from the public. Their dedication and community outreach enabled the impressive total to be achieved within a short span.
Later in the day, the collected amount was formally handed over to Dr. Aboo Ishaque. The occasion was attended by Dr. Akhil R, Vice Principal; Mr. Muhammed Mubashir N, Staff Secretary; and Dr. Noble Jacob, Head of the Department of Commerce, who all lauded the students for their commendable effort.
Ms. Nandana, daughter of Mrs. P. Anila, a faculty member at WIRAS, and Mr. C.C. Suresh, is undergoing treatment at MIMS, Kozhikode, with her father stepping forward as her kidney donor. With an estimated medical expense of ?50 lakhs, such campaigns are crucial in helping the family during this difficult time.
The NSS Unit expressed sincere gratitude to all donors, well-wishers, and the student volunteers whose unwavering support made the campaign a meaningful success.
