NSS Volunteers Attend National Environment Summit 2026
The NSS volunteers of WIRAS actively participated in the Haritha Keralam National Environment Summit 2026, organized by Haritha Keralam Mission at Uday Palace, Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram on 23rd February 2026.
The summit, themed “An Action for Sustainable Environment – The Kerala Initiative” (February 23–25, 2026), brought together environmental leaders, youth representatives, and policymakers to deliberate on sustainable development and environmental protection.
Representing WIRAS, NSS volunteers Ms. Arya P L, Ms. Ajna Parveen, Ms. Ridha Aysha M, Mr. Muhammed Zein P, and Mr. Juraij Abdul Jabbar, along with Programme Officer Mr. Rajeesh V V, attended the summit. The team actively participated in the session titled “Youth and the Environment of Tomorrow.”
The session was led by distinguished speakers including Prasiddhi Singh, laureate of the PM Rashtriya Bal Puraskar; Licypriya Kangujam, environmental activist and founder of the Child Movement; and Ridhima Pandey, recipient of the Mother Teresa Memorial Award. Their inspiring insights encouraged young participants to take proactive roles in shaping a sustainable future.
The programme was inaugurated by Pinarayi Vijayan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, emphasizing the state’s commitment to environmental conservation and youth engagement.
The participation of WIRAS NSS volunteers in this prestigious national summit reflects their dedication to environmental awareness and sustainable action, bringing pride to the institution.
