NSS Volunteers Join “Pachathuruth” Campaign to Promote Biodiversity
As part of the Biodiversity Theme, the volunteers of NSS Unit 48, WIRAS, participated in a campaign titled “Pachathuruth”, organized by the Sreekandapuram Municipality in association with the Haritha Keralam Mission. The programme was held on 14th October 2025 at the Biodiversity Park, Panchamoola, Kottur. The event aimed to promote environmental conservation, encourage biodiversity preservation, and raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining a green environment.
The inaugural session was presided over by E. K. Somashekharan, District Coordinator of the Haritha Keralam Mission, and inaugurated by Dr. K. V. Philomina, Chairperson of Sreekandapuram Municipality. V. C. Balakrishnan served as the chief guest, while Sukumaran, Resource Person of Irikkoor Haritha Keralam Mission, delivered the welcome address.
Ten NSS volunteers from Unit 48 actively participated in various campaign activities under the theme “Biodiversity and Environmental Protection.” The programme successfully fostered environmental awareness and inspired participants to contribute toward a greener future. Motivated by the initiative, the volunteers also resolved to transform their college campus into a green oasis through tree planting and biodiversity enhancement activities.
