Research Basics Orientation Empowers Commerce Students
The PG Department of Commerce, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized an orientation session on “Foundations of Academic Research Methods and Practices” on 1st August 2025 for final-year B.Com and M.Com students. The session was conducted by Dr. Vineeth Kumar V, Research Director at WIRAS.
The orientation aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of academic research and to prepare them for undertaking research projects. Dr. Vineeth Kumar explained various aspects of research, including types of research, research methodology, data collection techniques, data analysis, and research ethics. Special emphasis was given to the importance of avoiding plagiarism and following proper referencing and citation styles.
The session was interactive and informative, enabling students to clarify their doubts and gain confidence in approaching academic research. Overall, the programme proved to be a valuable academic initiative that enhanced students’ understanding of research practices and standards.
