WIRAS Launches Biodiversity Mapping Project Under ENWIRAS 2025

As part of the ENWIRAS 2025 environmental initiative, the Library Department and NSS Unit 48 of the Wadihuda Institute of Research and Advanced Studies (WIRAS) jointly organized a Biodiversity Mapping program on 16th September 2025.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Aboo Ishaque P. K., Principal of WIRAS, who emphasized the importance of ecological documentation and environmental awareness in academic spaces. The function was presided over by Dr. Vineethkumar V, Director of Research, and felicitated by Mr. R. C. Pradeepan, who praised the collaborative spirit of the event.

The session was also addressed by Mr. Devaraj M, Chief Librarian of WIRAS, who is a postgraduate in Wood Science and the official in charge of the mapping programme. He spoke about the significance of biodiversity tracking and its role in understanding and preserving local ecosystems.

Mr. Rajeesh V. V., Assistant Professor in Journalism and NSS Programme Officer, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the educational value of the initiative. Ms. Sreehitha Surendran, NSS volunteer, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organizing teams.

The Biodiversity Mapping project aims to engage students in real-world ecological learning by documenting the flora and fauna around the campus, aligning with WIRAS’s mission of sustainability, environmental consciousness, and community engagement.
