WIRAS NSS Unit Launches “Manasagramam”

The NSS Unit No. 48 of Wadihuda Institute of Research and Advanced Studies (WIRAS) formally launched its ambitious “Manasagramam” project by adopting the Orannidathchal area in Ward 6 of Cheruthazham Panchayat. The inaugural event, held at the V V K Smaraka Vayanasala, marked the beginning of community-focused development initiatives in the region.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. K. P. Nidheesh, NSS District Coordinator, with Dr. P. K. Abu Ishaque, Principal of WIRAS, presiding over the function. M. Sreedharan, President of Cheruthazham Panchayat, was the chief guest.

As the first project under Manasagramam, a book donation drive was initiated to enrich the local library. Dr. Abu Ishaque handed over a set of books to V. Madhavan Master, symbolizing the official launch of the drive. In the absence of Rajeesh Bala, Programme Officer and noted Malayalam writer, Dr. Vineethkumar V, Director of Research, WIRAS, handed over Mr. Rajeesh’s award-winning book ‘Kumrcha’ to the library on his behalf.

The function also recognized outstanding volunteer contributions. Ms. Abhirami V. P. and Mr. Shithil M. V. were presented with the “Best Outgoing Volunteer” awards for their exemplary service. After the ceremony, NSS volunteers celebrated by sharing sweets with local villagers, reinforcing the spirit of unity and service.

Mr. Salman Faris, Dean of Student Services, was also present at the function, lending his support and encouragement to the NSS team.

The event featured address by Panchayath Member T. V. Kamala. Dr. Vineethkumar V welcomed the gathering, and N. Ranjith Rajan, Secretary of the Vayanasala, proposed the vote of thanks.
