NSS Marks Teachers Day With Service

NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS organized a visit to Ashraya Swasraya Sangham for the visually challenged at Mundathadam, Mathamangalam, as part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations. The programme, titled “Teachers of Life,” provided NSS volunteers and prospective first-year volunteers with a meaningful lifelong learning experience. The programme was inaugurated by Programme Officer Rajeesh V V. Mr Govindan, Secretary of Ashraya, welcomed the gathering. The volunteers were received at the Ashraya Home through a traditional ceremony and were later served refreshments by the members. As part of the initiative, the volunteers contributed essential stationery items and grains purchased with funds collected among themselves. They also cleaned the Ashraya Home and its premises. The visit offered the volunteers an opportunity to interact with the visually challenged and learn values of empathy, service and community responsibility. The programme concluded with a warm chain song, followed by the vote of thanks delivered by student coordinator Ajna Parveen U K P.
