NSS Volunteers Support “Oppam” Camp for Children with Autism

Members of NSS Unit 48 actively participated as volunteers and buddies in the three-day residential “Oppam” Camp organized jointly by the National Service Scheme and the PG Department of Psychology at the WIRAS Campus. The camp was conducted for children affected by autism spectrum disorder as part of the institution’s inclusive initiatives following the Inclusive Summit 2023.

Through interactive sessions and activities, volunteers worked closely with the children as companions and facilitators, ensuring a caring and supportive atmosphere throughout the programme. The camp provided volunteers with a meaningful experience that strengthened empathy, patience, and awareness about inclusivity. It also highlighted the importance of compassionate support and co-existence with marginalized communities requiring greater understanding and care.
