The Global Talk Series

The Department of English, WIRAS, organized an international webinar titled "The Global Talk Series" on September 7, 2026, featuring Ms. Shagufta Tazin Shathy, Communications Associate at UNHCR Bangladesh, as the keynote speaker on the topic "From Classroom to the United Nations: Opportunities, Skills and My Journey." The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Ayishath Shamah Rahmath (Academic Coordinator, WIRAS) and was formally inaugurated by Ms. Shahina Abdul Salam (Head, Department of English). In her address, Ms. Shathy reflected on the challenges, resilience, and key communication skills required to transition from academia into the UN system, followed by an interactive Q&A session. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Hridya Suresh K.
