WIRAS Commerce Students Gain Industry Exposure Through Ooty–Wayanad Industrial Visit
The PG Department of Commerce, WIRAS, successfully organized a three-day industrial visit from January 9 to 11, 2026, for IV Semester B.Com students. A total of 84 students, accompanied by faculty members Mr. Rahanas T, Ms. Vineetha C, Ms. Rajesree A M, and Ms. Lakshmi V R, participated in the programme. The visit was designed to provide students with practical exposure and real-world industrial knowledge, helping them bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practices. As part of the industrial exposure, students visited Shiri and Seyons Tea Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd., where they observed the complete process of tea production. They also explored a chocolate factory in Ooty to understand small-scale food processing and specialized manufacturing techniques. In addition to industrial visits, the itinerary included visits to the Botanical Garden and Boat House in Ooty, offering insights into the region’s economic and tourism landscape. The journey also covered Wayanad, where students visited key attractions such as Banasura Sagar Dam, Meenmutty Waterfalls, and Edakkal Caves. All travel, food, and accommodation arrangements were carefully coordinated, ensuring student safety and discipline throughout the trip. The industrial visit proved to be an enriching learning experience, enhancing students’ understanding of industrial operations and regional commerce.
