WIRAS Hosts Historic Football Film Festival

NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS created history by organizing the first-ever Football Film Festival under Kannur University, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup 2026. The four-day festival, held from 30 June to 3 July, featured acclaimed football films, beginning with Pele and concluding with the timeless classic Bend It Like Beckham. The valedictory function was inaugurated by Dr. Aboo Ishaque P. K., Principal of WIRAS, and graced by Sherry Govindan, director of the National Award-winning film Adimadhyantham. Rajeesh V. V., NSS Programme Officer, presided over the function, while Arya P. K., student coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Salman Faris, Chief Administrator and Dean of Student Affairs, Ayisha Shamah Rahmath, Academic Coordinator, and Manu C. H., HoD of Malayalam, felicitated the occasion. Suhan Haneef T., Volunteer Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. The festival was widely appreciated for blending cinema, football, and student engagement in a pioneering initiative.
