NSS Spreads Awareness On Water Conservation
NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS College organized a “Catch the Rain” Awareness Programme at Kaanayi Kaanam on 19 September 2026 to promote water conservation and sustainable water management. The programme was conducted as part of the CatchTheRain Campaign – 2026 under MY Bharat–National Service Scheme. Ms. Sharanya K, Research Fellow, MSSRF CAbC, Wayanad, led an informative session on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and responsible water use. The programme was inaugurated by P Suresh, Municipal Ward Councillor, Kanayi South. Rajeesh V V, Programme Officer, presided over the formal function, while Abitha Balan delivered the welcome address and Fathimathul Lamiha proposed the vote of thanks. NSS volunteers and prospective first-year volunteers participated in the programme and cleaned Kaanam and the area surrounding the waterfall. The programme was coordinated by Volunteer Ajna Parveen U K P, providing participants with a meaningful learning experience on environmental conservation and community responsibility.
