Two-Day Workshop on Qualitative Research Concludes at WIRAS
The PG Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Research Directorate of WIRAS College, organized a two-day workshop on Qualitative Research on 13th and 14th September 2025. The workshop aimed to provide students with intensive training on qualitative research methods, processes, and applications.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Ms. Sahla Abdurahman, Head of the Department of Psychology. Dr. Vineeth Kumar, Research Director and IQAC Coordinator, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the role of research in academic growth. The workshop was officially inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Aboo Ishaque P.K., who highlighted the importance of research-oriented learning and the relevance of qualitative approaches in psychology. The felicitation address was given by Ms. Manhal V.P., Assistant Professor and UG Coordinator, followed by the vote of thanks by Ms. Nasiha K.M., Assistant Professor of Psychology.
The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Fathima Bushra Saliha, Assistant Professor, Farook College, who guided participants through the essentials of framing research questions, data collection strategies, and manual processes of qualitative research. The interactive, activity-based sessions offered students both theoretical insights and practical exposure.
Final-year psychology students from WIRAS, Sir Syed Institute, and NEST College actively participated in the program. The workshop successfully combined expert guidance with hands-on practice, equipping students with a stronger foundation in qualitative research and instilling greater confidence in their academic pursuits.
