WIRAS NSS Observes World Anti-Drug Day with Awareness Drive

In connection with World Anti-Drug Day on June 26, NSS Unit 48 of WIRAS organized an impactful awareness programme to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle.

The session began with a welcome address by Volunteer Hanna H. In the absence of Programme Officer Rajeesh V V, the presidential address was delivered by Mr. Rahanas T, former NSS Programme Officer. The event was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Aboo Ishaque, who emphasized the rising threat of drug abuse and the role of youth in combating it.

Dr. Akhil R (Vice Principal) and Mr. Muhammed Mubashir (Staff Secretary) highlighted the personal and social consequences of substance abuse. Dr. Vineethkumar V, Research Director, also graced the occasion.

A pledge against drug use, led by Volunteer Ziya Fathima, marked a unifying moment of the event.

A flash mob and public campaign planned for Pilathara Bus Stand had to be cancelled due to rain. However, volunteers’ week-long preparation underscored their commitment, with plans underway to reschedule the event soon.
